The Toyota 3MZ-FE engine is a 3.3-liter V6 from Toyota’s MZ engine family, designed to deliver a balance of smooth power and refined performance. Introduced in the early 2000s, it features an aluminum alloy block and DOHC (dual overhead camshaft) configuration with 24 valves. It uses VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) on the intake camshaft to improve efficiency and performance across the RPM range. The 3MZ-FE is equipped with sequential multi-point fuel injection and a relatively high compression ratio of around 10.8:1, producing approximately 210 to 230 horsepower and 220–242 lb-ft of torque, depending on the application. It was designed for quiet operation, strong midrange torque, and long-term reliability.

The 3MZ-FE engine was used in a variety of Toyota and Lexus vehicles during the mid-2000s, typically in midsize and larger cars and SUVs. Common applications include the Toyota Camry, Toyota Highlander, Toyota Sienna, Toyota Solara, Toyota Avalon, Lexus RX 330, and Lexus ES 330. It was often paired with automatic transmissions and used in both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive platforms. The 3MZ-FE was appreciated for its smooth and responsive character, making it a strong performer for family vehicles and light-duty SUVs. While eventually phased out in favor of more modern V6 engines like the 2GR-FE, the 3MZ-FE remains respected for its durability and ease of maintenance.
